Communications Division
The City of Naples Police Department (NPD) Communications Center is manned round-the-clock by certified Public Safety Telecommunicators (PSTs) who are ready to assist citizens with their emergencies or routine inquiries.
Mission Statement: The NPD Communications Division receives, records, collates, and disseminates information on a 24-hour, 7-day per week (24/7) basis to respond to public safety needs within the City of Naples and designated areas throughout Collier County.
Vision Statement: We are the core of Naples public safety, providing timely and seamless multi-systems communications assistance to our customers: Naples’ citizens, guests, and Police and Fire Departments’ personnel. As a customer-focused team, we respond to calls with empathy, courtesy, and proficiency, and continuously strive to exceed expectations. We foster partnerships with our customers and stakeholders, making them part of our continuous quality improvement process.
Communications Operations: During Fiscal Year 2017, our PSTs handled nearly 76,000 telephone calls; of these, over 18,000 were emergency calls on the Enhanced 9-1-1 (E-911) system. In response, PSTs dispatch and coordinate the response of the city's police officers and fire/rescue units, and assist with the dispatch of other Collier County fire departments and the county’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ambulances throughout Collier County.
Additional Information: The NPD PST is a professional, highly responsible, multi-functional public servant who must handle many tough requirements, often in crisis situations.
