Mission Statement
The mission of the Utilities Department is to efficiently maintain the public water, sewer and irrigation infrastructure and provide services to ensure the safety and well-being of the City residents.
Department Overview
The Utilities Department is responsible for protecting the public welfare and providing basic services that affect citizens on a daily basis who live and work in the City of Naples. The divisions under the Utilities Department are:

Utilities Administration Overview
The Utilities Administration division provides oversight management for the Water / Sewer Fund, Solid Waste Fund, and the Equipment Services Internal Services Fund.
Water Production Overview
The Water Treatment Plant is a 30 million gallon per day lime softening plant with filtration and disinfection. The plant is manned 24/7 with a minimum of two operators per shift. The water service area extends beyond the corporate limits of the City serving approximately 18,000 water accounts and an estimated population of 62,000.
Water Distribution Overview
Distribution is responsible for maintenance and repair of the potable water distribution system division and the raw water mains from both wellfields. The water distribution system consists of approximately 358 miles of water main that range in size from 2 to 30 inches, 4,900 valves, and 1,928 fire hydrants. The raw water main consists of 30 miles of main that range in size from 20 to 36 inches.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Overview
The City of Naples Wastewater treatment facility (WWTP) is a 10 Million Gallon per day Advanced Waste Treatment (AWT) Facility. An AWT facility produces an effluent that is lower in nutrients such as Nitrogen and Phosphorous. The City’s WWWTP produces a high-quality effluent termed “Reclaimed Water” which is primarily used for irrigation of Golf Courses, residential landscaping, parks and roadway medians. The reclaimed water system includes over 30 miles of distribution piping, supplemental water from the Golden Gate canal and aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) wells located on the facility site. The wastewater service area has approximately 9000 accounts with an estimated population of 45,000.
Wastewater Collections Overview
Wastewater Collections is responsible for maintenance and repair of the sanitary sewer system and the reclaimed water distribution system. The sanitary sewer system consists of 122 miles of gravity sewer main, 2,924 manholes and 52.3 miles of force main. The reclaimed water system consists of 30 miles of distribution main, 637 electronic meters and 63 fire hydrants.
Utilities Maintenance Overview
Utilities Maintenance is responsible for repair and maintenance of 120 pump stations throughout the City sewer service area, 54 public water supply water wells within two well fields and four remote potable water storage/pump facilities within the water service area. This division also provides maintenance assistance with larger projects for both plants.
Equipment Services Overview
The Equipment Services division is responsible for maintenance and repair of 608 pieces of equipment. Vehicles include service vehicles, emergency response vehicles, garbage trucks, dump trucks and vacuum trucks to name a few. Ancillary vehicles include trailers, tractors, lawn mowers and ball field equipment.
Solid Waste Overview
The Solid Waste Division provides backdoor residential garbage collection, curbside single-stream residential recycling, residential horticulture collection, commercial garbage collection and non-residential (commercial) recycling throughout the City.
