Citizens Police Academy - NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

BEGINNING 5/01/2024, WE WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2025 CLASS.

City residents and/or City business owners will be given priority!

(One application per person is required, so if you are a couple wanting to attend, each person must complete an application).

The Citizen’s Police Academy offers an exciting behind the scenes look at the Naples Police Department and an opportunity to meet the men and women who serve you.  This program is designed to give citizens and business owners an in-depth, hands-on look at how and why the police department does what it does, and you’ll have fun along the way. 

Attendees of the Citizen’s Police Academy participate in a wide variety of activities, including scenario-based situations, traffic enforcement, criminal law, vehicle operations (yes, you will drive a police car!), police communications/dispatch, forensics, and many other interesting topics. A patrol and marine ride-along are also available to qualified participants. 

The Citizen’s Police Academy will mostly meet on Thursday evenings from 6pm-9pm in the Naples Police Department training room.  Some meetings will be off-site and on different days (driving course, firearms instruction/demonstration, building searches).  A copy of the schedule will be provided once your application has been approved.

The program is free of charge. Registration is first come first serve with priority given to City of Naples residents and/or City business owners. You must be 18 years or older to participate.

Because the class size is limited, we ask that applications only be submitted by those individuals who can commit to attending all classes.

Due to the sensitive nature of some of the topics, applicants will be subjected to a criminal background check to determine their suitability.  The information will not be used for any other purposes nor shared with other persons or entity.  *Fingerprints and completion of an on-line Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) training course are mandatory for anyone attending the Citizen’s Police Academy.*
