 Nesting Bald Eagles  *October 1st through May 15th*

  •  Please be advised that it is against the law to disturb Nesting Bald Eagles during Nesting Season without a USFWS permit between October 1st through May 15th
  • In compliance with the USFWS Bald Eagle Management and The City of Naples Comprehensive Plan; Conservation and Coastal Management Element C.C.M., Policy 2-18, the following shall be required to obtain Building Permits for work within 660 feet of an active Bald Eagles Nest:

    • A federal permit may be required from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) for construction activities conducted within 660 feet of nesting Bald Eagles.

    • USFWS provides monitoring guidelines and permiting assistance. To check if a Permit is needed, visit: https://www.fws.gov/law/bald-and-golden-eagle-protection-act

    • A signed Bald Eagle Policy form by the contractor acknowledging that the site work is within 660’ of an active Bald Eagle’s nest and compliance with federal laws regarding eagle disturbance must be followed.  This form should be submitted with the initial permit application.

 

What to know if working in the Seagate neighborhood

  • Know where the eagle's nest is
  • Nesting season is from October 1st-May 15th
  • Construction is limited and, in some cases, prohibited during this time
  • The United States Fish and Wildlife Service regulates activities within 660' around the nest
