Oyster Reef Monitoring

Site 1 oyster stringer assembly

The oyster reef restoration sites are being monitored to evaluate success of the project and provide information for future restoration efforts. Oyster reef monitoring includes analyzing water quality around the reefs and ecological monitoring of the reefs themselves. Oysters are counted at the restoration sites and reference sites to determine density, and oyster sizes will be measured to determine age structure of the oyster population.
