Yes, as listed on our Pre-Submittal Checklist included as part of our Single Family New Permit Application, truss drawings are required at the time of submittal.
If a contractor wants to submit a permit and truss plans are NOT provided include a letter with the permit stating such. The permit can still be reviewed for all other requirements but a "hold" will be placed on the issuing of the permit pending submittal of the truss manufactures plan sheet (along with the approval / review statement from the engineer of record). As an alternative if a contractor wants to submit for a permit prior to floor and truss plans being available from the truss manufacturer, the engineer of record can produce truss plans themselves and the Building Dept. will accept them and allow the permit to move forward. Once a truss drawing is later provided by the actual truss manufacturer it can be submitted as a revision to the plans. Truss plans do require a review/acceptance statement from the design professional of record.
In an effort to allow a project to proceed a contractor may submit a Site Permit application to proceed with clearing, grading, and pile driving activity only. Offers of seismic monitoring and inspection of adjacent properties must be included with the Site Permit application.

Yes, a permit is needed to have a garage sale. You will need to visit the Building Department at 295 Riverside Cir Naples, FL 34102 or the Finance Department at 735 8th St S. Naples, FL 34102; there you will fill out an application. We will then check the address to ensure you have not had a permit issued in the past year; garage sale permits are issued once a year, per property. You will be issued a permit to post at the site, in a visible area. There is no fee for this permit. Permits are issued Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
The City of Naples does require a permit and inspection of replacement pool heaters. This includes gas heaters, heat pumps and solar systems.
Be sure to inform all of your subcontractors of your job site's flood level, such as the North American Vertical Datum (N.A.V.D.) Water heaters, electrical devices and air conditioners are often installed below flood level due to a lack of communication between the job superintendent and the subcontractors.

Submit a written request of extension (90 days maximum) and the reason (cause) for the extension. Include the permit number in the letter.
A permit can be extended one time for a period of 90 days (exception: demolition for 30 days). An extension fee of $35 is required along with a completed "extension request-fax form". This form is #15 found on our website under "Building Permit Forms."

Yes - in most cases. A $50 re-inspection fee can be charged to cover the additional trip and labor required for re-inspection. This is in keeping with our fee ordinance. Some inspections require multiple inspections of the same type (i.e. 3-4 rough electrical inspections instead of the normal 1). In this case a “Partial Inspection” fee of $25 is charged for extra inspections beyond the normal 1st inspection.

Construction fence requirements:
- All construction sites are required to have a 6-foot, chain-link fence with top rail and windscreen. At the base of the chain-link fence, a silt-screen fence is also required.
- Before any permit for a complete or partial demolition can be issued, a Temporary Construction Fence permit must be issued and inspected. This requirement is retroactive; all permits that are currently in plan review will have to meet this requirement before the building permit can be issued.
- Before any permit for a new or major addition project can be issued, a Temporary Construction Fence Permit must be issued and inspected.
- Construction fences are required on the front, rear, and sides of the property for commercial and R1-15A areas. The front gates must be lockable.

All permits being submitted for plan review must include a Construction Site Management Plan with a completed application attached. Plans must also be submitted detailing the location of the various construction supplies, such as dumpsters, fences, temporary toilets, temporary trailers and parking.
For minor, interior commercial and multifamily alterations, this site plan is usually waived.
Any new development, redevelopment or substantial improvement are required to submit a site drainage plan when submitting for a Building Permit. This plan will show the permanent drainage for the property after construction is completed and will require steps to be performed in order to keep water from draining onto the neighbor's property.
