An issued permit is required for all reinstallation work related to damage caused by a hurricane
This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Drywall repair and installation
- Trim and Baseboard installation
- Cabinet replacement
- Flooring repairs and replacements
- All electrical and mechanical work
Permitting Process
Hurricane Repairs: For structures where hurricane damage was sustained and there are no open/issued building permits, please submit an emergency hurricane application through the public portal. Do not begin replacement work until a permit has been issued.
Existing Permits: For structures with an issued/open permit where hurricane damage was sustained, a revision is required. No work shall continue until the revision has been approved and issued to include the hurricane related repairs. To add hurricane damage repair work to an issued/open permit, the following documents are required for the revision submittal and must be uploaded through the public portal to the existing permit:
- Revision Form
- Complete and submit a revision form indicating hurricane damage
- Include a detailed description of the proposed repairs on the form
- Scope of Work Letter
- Provide a separate letter outlining all additional work required to restore the structure to pre-storm condition
- SI/SD Cost Breakdown Form for Addition/Alterations/Repairs in a Special Flood Hazard Area
- Ensure all pages of the SI/SD form are complete before submission
- The cost estimate of reconstruction on page 6 is required
- Projects relying on a certified appraisal report to establish the actual cash value of a structure must provide a recent appraisal completed within the last six months, as stipulated by FEMA P-758
