Naples is considered by many to be the crown jewel of Southwest Florida. With its subtropical climate tempered by the soft breezes from the Gulf of Mexico, people are struck by its natural beauty of the beach, flora, and fauna.  The City of Naples is located on the Gulf of Mexico in Southwest Florida, and it is the cultural and activity center of Collier County. Still, the City is less than 20 miles away from the tropical wilderness of the Florida Everglades.

Naples was incorporated on December 1, 1923. It is approximately 16 square miles in size and has 108 miles of streets, a full-time population of approximately 20,000 people. From November to May the population swells to over 33,500, as “snowbirds” migrate from all parts of the world.  Naples grew from a small frontier-style fishing camp in the 1920s to its current status as a premier City.  In addition to its natural features, the City of Naples is known for its world-class shopping, exceptional dining opportunities, excellent cultural experiences, and abundance of challenging golf courses.

The City of Naples is a full-service city governed under the Council/Manager form of government.  The City Manager serves as Chief Executive Officer and head of the administrative branch of City government. In accordance with the City Charter, the City Manager is responsible to City Council for the proper administration of all departments, except the Legal Department and the City Clerk.  The departments are Building, Community Services, Finance, Fire-Rescue, Human Resources, Planning, Police, Streets and Stormwater, Technology Services, Utilities.

The City of Naples is a Tobacco-Free Work Place.  Applicants for the City of Naples must not have been a user of tobacco products for at least six months immediately preceding an application for employment; and, if hired, must maintain non-use of tobacco products for the duration of employment with the City of Naples.
