Naples Redevelopment Area - Neighborhood Plans

Redevelopment Area neighborhoods

The Naples Community Redevelopment Agency recently held public outreach meetings for the River Park (East and West) neighborhoods, the Lake Park neighborhood in the Redevelopment Area south of 7th Avenue North, and in the 41/10 commercial district.  The meetings were held in the auditorium at the River Park Community Center located at 301 11th Street North.  The goal is to determine what stakeholders want and then develop an implementation plan consistent with the Redevelopment Plan.

The River Park (East and West) neighborhoods, and the southernmost portion of the Lake Park neighborhood, located in the Redevelopment Area provide family, workforce, and affordable housing within a City that has a higher than average housing prices.  These important neighborhoods may have single family homes, as well as multi-family dwelling units.

The commercial “neighborhood” located in the US41 / 10th Street corridor from 1st Avenue South to 7th Avenue North presents a unique challenge and may benefit from a “neighborhood plan” as well.  The Avenues that connect US 41/Tamiami Trail with 10th Street support a wide variety of businesses and have different parking profiles.  Right-of-way parking areas may operate as if they are parking lots for the adjacent users with cars parking perpendicular to the roadway.  Attractive landscaping, street furniture, and lighting that highlight and define the area may be considered.  Other infrastructure improvements, facade improvement programs, amenities, or branding strategies may best be identified and prioritized through a structured planning process.

The neighborhood plan report was presented to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board at their meeting on June 22, 2020.
