Criminal Investigations
Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for follow-up investigative work related to reported crimes and ongoing criminal activity within the City of Naples. The division is led by a lieutenant and sergeant who manage and provide direction to detectives who complete the investigative function.
Detectives are trained in specialties such as property crimes, crimes against persons, drug crimes, intelligence gathering, economic crimes, and fraud. General Investigation cases are assigned to individual detectives but work in a team environment. This team-oriented approach allows for the most efficient communication and the best overall chance for solving cases and obtaining convictions.
The Crime Suppression Team devotes its investigative efforts towards a variety of activities based on current needs of the department. Some of their responsibilities include investigations concerning illegal narcotics trafficking and abuse, vice related crimes, auto burglaries and alcohol related offenses. The unit’s flexibility allows it to proactively work towards identifying and combating other criminal activities as necessary. Within the Criminal Investigations Division are support services which provide vital assistance police personnel. These include Crime Scene Investigation, Property and Evidence and Crime Analysis.
