Council Member Linda Penniman 2024

Linda and her husband Nick purchased their first home in Naples in The Moorings. Having been involved in her community in St. Louis, Linda learned of an opening on the Moorings Property Owners’ Association, applied, and served for several years, 2 of which were as chair. Land use issues became the nexus of her interests when many of the original houses were being torn down and replaced by much larger dwellings. When an opening occurred on the Planning Advisory Board in the City, Linda applied and was selected to serve on the city’s Planning Advisory Board. She served for 2 years. Concerns then began to surface regarding the resiliency of our shores. A mutual friend told her about the Collier County Coastal Advisory Board. She began attending their meetings and when an opening occurred, applied for a position and served on that board for many years.

Early on Greater Naples Leadership became a sustaining influence and introduction to other opportunities to serve her community. The Neighborhood Clinic captured her heart. She was thrilled to serve on their board for several years. A charismatic guy named Murray
Hendel got her involved in his organization; she is still a member and has served in various positions including the board for the past 3 years. Interest in the environment placed her on a special task force for the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. She and her husband Nick, who has devoted nearly 100% of his time to the environment, were recognized by The Conservancy of Southwest Florida for their work relating to the local environment; much of Linda’s work occurred during her first term on Naples City Council.

In 2015, Linda was recognized as a Woman of Initiative by the Community Foundation of Collier County.

She is currently serving as the Chairperson of the Advisory Board for WGCU Public Media.
