Completion of the design portion of this project has been extended due to construction price increases and the City of Naples and Collier County’s efforts to seek funding for this project in an effort to reduce any financial burden that may be placed on residents.  Completion of the design is anticipated in summer 2024.

About the Project

Joint Sewer and Stormwater Project

In May 2021, the City of Naples and Collier County began a comprehensive design of the City of Naples-owned sanitary sewer collection and potable water distribution systems and the county-owned stormwater management system in the area referred to as West Goodlette Phase 2. The boundary for this area is generally from Goodlette-Frank Road west to US 41/Tamiami Trail North and from Pine Ridge Road south to Cypress Woods Drive and along Creech Road. Preliminary design and coordination with other Collier County stormwater projects planned adjacent to this project’s area have determined that it would be beneficial to organize the planned sequence of design and construction as follows.

Project No. 1

Project No. 1 includes properties that were previously considered to be Areas 3 and 6. This project is expected to be completed first to avoid conflicts with the county’s Goodlette-Frank Road Ditch Improvements Project.

Project No. 2

Project No. 2 includes properties that were previously considered to be Area 2.

Project No. 3

Project No. 3 includes properties that were previously considered to be Areas 1 and 2.

In addition to avoiding conflicts between construction projects, the areas have been revised in an effort to help reduce assessment costs to homeowners. Homeowners located in the areas shown in yellow are currently served by on-site septic systems and will be assessed the cost of constructing a new sanitary sewer collection system, while homeowners in the areas shown in blue are already connected to the City’s existing sewer infrastructure.

You may notice crews in front of your house or in your yard while they are locating septic tanks, storm drainage pipes, and other existing facilities. Rest assured that these crews will minimize disturbances while collecting this information. No action is required on your part for collecting this information.

This project will upgrade the existing potable water system, provide a new central sanitary sewer collection system to eliminate existing septic systems and provide drainage improvements throughout the West Goodlette-Frank Road area.

This project is currently in the design phase and design is expected to be completed by summer 2024.

Next Steps

The City of Naples and Collier County are dedicated to ensuring an economical assessment cost to homeowners. The construction industry is experiencing material and labor shortages and price increases that make the current economic climate challenging for a construction project of this magnitude at this time. The City of Naples and Collier County are committed to continue to seek funding assistance for this project in an effort to reduce any financial burden that may be placed on the residents. Residents will continue to receive updates to the project, be notified of any public meetings that may be scheduled and will be notified of any assessment processes that will commence.

Public meetings will also be held prior to construction in each project area. Property owners will be advised of these meetings via newsletters.
