Welcome to the City Attorney for the City of Naples, Florida

The Legal Department provides quality legal services to the Mayor and City Council, the city administration, and various boards and committees by advising the elected and appointed officers in all matters relating to their official duties; prosecutes and defends on behalf of the City, as necessary.

Responsibilities and Objectives

  • The Legal Department renders professional legal services, advice and service in litigation, the enactment of ordinances and resolutions, and the daily operation of the City to the City Council, City Manager and staff, and various City committees and boards.
  • The Legal Department performs legal research and offers advisory opinions, and responds to requests from the Mayor, Council and city staff.
  • The Legal Department also prepares or reviews all ordinances, resolutions, contracts and instruments, with the goal of accomplishing the City's purposes and protecting its interests. The City Attorney attends and provides legal advice at all official meetings and workshop sessions of the City Council, and represents the City before all state and federal courts and agencies in civil matters.
